Obituary

Mr. Phillip Cliff Carter, 56, passed away on Sunday, February 5, 2023, at his residence following a sudden illness. He is the son of Peggy Carter and the late Helton "Porky" Carter. He was a lifelong resident of Columbia County and was a member of the 1984 graduating class of Columbia High School, he also completed vocational /technical training in Nashville, TN and was a member of Hopeful Baptist Church. He served his country for six years in the United States Navy serving in Desert Storm. Cliff enjoyed working on computers and working on his tractor. He was a warehouse supervisor with Oliver Technologies.

Cliff is survived by his Mother Peggy Carter, Lake City, FL one son Christopher Carter, Lake City, FL; two step-sons, Thomas Stinson (Ashley Morgan) Lake City, FL; Jimmie Willis (April) Lake City, FL; and one brother Craig Carter, Lake City, FL. also two special people Craig Chewning (Elle) who was like another son Lake City, FL. and Melissa Pafford who was like a sister, two grandchildren, and six great-grandchildren, and a host of aunts, uncles, and cousins also survive.

Visitation with the family will be held Friday, February 10, 2023, from 5:00 P.M. until 7:00 P.M. at Gateway-Forest Lawn Funeral Home in Lake City, FL. Interment will follow at a later date. In Lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made to Hopeful Baptist Church Cemetery fund 289 SE Hopeful Circle Lake City, FL 32025. Gateway-Forest Lawn Funeral Home is in charge of all arrangements. 3596 South US Hwy 441 Lake City, FL 32056.
