Peggy Marie King, 79, of Lake City, passed away on Saturday evening, November 9, 2024 at the HCA Florida – Lake City Hospital in Lake City, after a brief illness. She was born in Murfreesboro, Tennessee on November 19, 1944 to the late Lester Davenport and Mabel Hill Davenport. She has made the Lake City area her home for the last 23 years, moving here from the Trenton, Georgia area. She worked for a number of years in the Textile Industry and was of the Baptist faith. She loved her peace and quiet, drinking coffee and watching her "soaps" on TV. She is preceded in death by her first husband of forty years, Paul Kenimer; her second husband of eight years, Billy King; brothers, Norman Davenport, Gene Davenport, Terry Davenport, Ray Davenport and Murphy Davenport; and her sisters, Louise Balwin and Margaret King.
She is survived by her son, Charles Davenport (Connie) of Ringold, GA; daughters, Kristi Steele (Tony) of Lafayette, GA, Vicky Kenimer and Angela Lamb both of Lake City; and her brothers, Charles Davenport (Bonnie) and Joe Davenport (Bobbi) both of Lake City. Eleven grandchildren and numerous great-grandchildren also survive.
A funeral service for Mrs. King will be conducted on Wednesday, November 13, 2024 at 3:00 P.M. in the Gateway-Forest Lawn Memorial Chapel with Rev. Jerry Tyre officiating. The family will receive friends for a time of visitation beginning at 1:00 P.M. prior to the service at the funeral home.
