Pastor Lewis F. Daniels, 91, of Lake City, passed away peacefully Thursday morning, November 27, 2025 at his residence with his family by his side. He was born on November 10, 1934, the youngest of 4 children to Zeb and Mamie G. Daniels and has made Lake City his home all of his life. He served his country in the United States Navy, and then returned home and began driving a Gas Truck before submitting to the call to become a Pastor, but he still continued to drive the Gas Truck until his health forced him to stop. He served as the Pastor of Evergreen Baptist Church for over 18 years as well as the Pastor of Oak Grove Baptist Church for over 20 years. In his spare time, he enjoyed working on model cars, trucks and trains; as well as working on his Antique Tractors and going to shows with his son. He is preceded in death by his son, John Frederick Daniels; and his siblings, Alan & Lee Daniels, and Edith Daniels.
He is survived by his loving wife of over 69 years, Mary Lou Clyatt Daniels of Lake City; son, Gary Daniels (Tammy) of Lake City and his two grandchildren, Gus & Donnie Daniels both of Lake City. Several great-grandchildren along with extended family members and friends also survive.
A funeral service for Pastor Daniels will be conducted on Wednesday, December 3, 2025 at 2:00 P.M. in the Gateway-Forest Lawn Funeral Home. Interment will follow in the Forest Lawn Memorial Gardens Cemetery. The family will receive friends for a time of visitation beginning at 1:00 P.M. prior to the service at the church.
