Obituary

Park Trammell Jones, Jr, 79 of Lake City, Florida, passed away peacefully at his home following a lengthy illness on Sunday, February 27, 2022. Park was born in Lakeland, Georgia on August 16, 1942, to the late Park Trammell Jones, Sr., and Leila Mae Gibbs Jones. Park was a graduate of Miami Jackson High School where he was a big contributor to their state championship football team. Park attended the University of Florida on a football scholarship but had his career ended by an injury. After leaving UF, he served in the US Marine Corps. After serving as a United States Marine, Mr. Jones attended the Wharton School of Business, the University of Chicago and began an exceptional career in the banking and mortgage industry. His work took him to Miami, Atlanta, New York, Texas, and California and back to Florida while serving on several national banking and mortgage boards. He had made a home in Lake City since 1982 later becoming a valued part of First Federal Bank and later Peoples State Bank. Park was honest, loyal, and steadfast and someone you could always count on. Park was a member of the Lake City Lions Club for many years. He enjoyed fishing, tennis, and golf and loved spending time with his family and friends. Park was a great husband, father and grandfather, a gift to our community, a mentor to many young people, and would do anything for anyone.

He was preceded in death by his brother Jimmie Mitchell Jones. He is survived by his wife of 55 years, Linda F. Jones, the love of his life, who he affectionately referred to as his little Italian Catholic Yankee who always kept him on his toes, son Matthew Trammell Jones and his wife Allison of Coppell, Texas, daughter Kylyn Parkleigh Jones of Lake City and three grandchildren, Bryer, Emily, and Connor. He is also survived by his brother Timothy Jones (Connie) of Lake City, sister-in-law Brenda Jones of St. Augustine, FL, brother-in-law Les Fatica (Carrie) of Erie, PA, brother-in-law Len Fatica (Chris) of Statesboro, GA, sister-in-law Lauraine Fatica Tice (Bob) of Tonawanda, NY, and many special nieces and nephews. Also survived by his dear friends in Miami, his fellow Lions Club members, special friends Ron and Sandra Foreman, and Billy Jayne and all the staff and customers of Mr. B's BBQ with a Kick, Park's latest endeavor, and Mary Helen Tomlinson, his special caretaker. Special thoughts and thanks to Dr. Mark Thompson, Dr. Waseem Kahn, and Dr. Brent Hayden for their kindness and support.
