Norman Lee Thearl, 78 of Lake City, Florida, passed away on Friday, February 25, 2022 at the Haven Suwannee Valley Hospice Care Center in Lake City.  He was born the youngest of 6 children in Wright City, Oklahoma to the late Thomas Jefferson Thearl and Eva Bell Ford Thearl.  Following the death of both parents at a young age, Mr. Thearl was raised with the Dodderer family.  He retired in 1984 from the United States Navy and was a longtime resident of Lake City having moved here from Jacksonville.  Mr. Thearl was of the Baptist faith and he enjoyed working in his yard, growing roses, going to yard sales and traveling "Cross Country", as he would say.  He was preceded in death by his parents; five siblings, Mattie Thearl Rhymer, Gladys Thearl Blackwell, Katherine Thearl Dodderer, David Thearl and Patsy Thearl Roberts; and his father-in-law, Lamar Boozer.

Survivors include his wife of 18 years, Wanda Boozer Thearl, Lake City; one son, Brandon Thomas, Sr., Lake City; one grandson, Brandon Thomas, Jr., Lake City; a special niece, Aminda Lynn Davis (Brian) and their son Ian of Kentucky, and Shirley Armstong (Raydeen) of Oklahoma; his mother-in-law, Pat Boozer, Lake City; and many extended family and friends.

Private services for Mr. Thearl will be held at the Jacksonville National Cemetery in Jacksonville, Florida at a later date with military honors.  In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the American Heart Association.
