Mr. Norman Kendell McElroy, 80, passed away on Monday January 5, 2026, at the HCA Florida North Florida Hospital following a sudden illness. He is the son of the late Foster Alvin and Pearl Hunter McElroy and grandson of the late Mr. and Mrs. I.E. Hunter. He is preceded in death by a sister Elizabeth McElroy Glass and a nephew Brad Kohlhepp. He had made Wellborn FL, his home since 1976 after moving there from Lake City. He was a long-time member of Wellborn Baptist Church and enjoyed mowing the grass, helping people, spending time with his family and being outside.
Mr. Norman is survived by his wife of fifty-two years Myrtle Ann McElroy, Wellborn, FL; his sister Patricia "Pat" Kohlhepp, Lake City, FL; three sister-in- laws Evelyn Altman, White Springs, FL; Nancy Picker (Fran) Lakeland, FL, and Suezette Wiggins, Jasper, FL; one niece Priscilla Moore (Chuck), Lake City, FL; a great niece Alexis Moore, Lake City, FL; one nephew Paul Allison (Tara) Avon Park, FL; and a great nephew Lucas Allison, Avon Park, FL;
A funeral service for Mr. Norman Kendell McElroy will be conducted on Friday January 9, at 11:00 A.M. in the Gateway-Forest Lawn Memorial Chapel. with Reverend Robert Bass officiating. Interment will follow in Riverside Cemetery in White Springs, FL. The family will receive friends for a time of visitation one hour prior to service at the funeral home.
