Nevin C. Nettles, 83 of Lake City, passed away on Thursday, July 28, 2022 at the Bedrock Rehabilitation and Nursing Center in Lake City.  He was born in Lake City to the late, Guilford Nettles and Nellie Smith Nettles, and made Lake City his home all of his life.  Mr. Nettles was a member of Pleasant Grove United Methodist Church and he served our country in the United States Air Force.  He worked for many years at AERO Corporation and retired from the Florida Department of Corrections in 2006 with 21 years of service mainly at the Lake City Work Release Center.  Mr. Nettles enjoyed fishing, camping, traveling, growing his yearly garden, but his true passion was farming.  He was preceded in death by his parents; and his brother, Hubert C. Nettles.

Survivors include his wife of 62 years, Shirley V. Nettles, Lake City; three sons, Jimmy Nettles (Cheryle), Tim Nettles (Charlotte) and Scott Nettles (Tracy), all of Lake City; his daughter, Belinda Boyd, Gainesville; fifteen grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren also survive.

Funeral services will be conducted on Monday, August 1, 2022 at 11:00 AM in the Gateway-Forest Lawn Memorial Chapel with Rev. Dusty Bailey and Bishop Chris Lowery officiating.  Interment will follow at Forest Lawn Memorial Gardens Cemetery.  Visitation with the family will be one hour prior to the service at the funeral home from10:00 AM to 11:00 AM.
