Mrs. Naomi P. Koon, 74, of Lake City died Monday, June 20, 2011 at her residence following a lengthy illness. Born in Ellisville, Florida to the late, Leon and Margarite Bailey Porter, Mrs. Koon had been a lifelong resident of Lake City. She retired from Bellsouth Telephone Company as a manager after 32 years of service, was an excellent cook, made numerous wedding cakes, and enjoyed crocheting and crafts. She was a member of Lake City Church of Christ.

Mrs. Koon is survived by her sons, Monte Koon (Pennie), and Kirk Koon (Dominique Thomson); daughter, Angie Markham (Sam) all of Lake City; brothers, William Porter (Lillian) of Trenton, and Russell Porter (Sherry) of Ocala; sisters, Elizabeth Horne (Leo) of Lake City, and Mabel Helen Wiggin of Boca Raton; grandchildren, Travis Koon of Gainesville, Jerry Koon, Kristen Koon, Nicole Johnson, Christa Markham, Kyllie Koon, and Hunter Koon, all of Lake City; great-grandchildren, Walker Clem and Mia Leonard both of Lake City.

Funeral services for Mrs. Koon will be conducted at 11:00 A.M. Thursday, June 23, 2011 in the Gateway-Forest Lawn Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Sam Kitchens, and Rev. Roy Dicks officiating. Interment will follow at Ft. White Cemetery. Visitation with the family will be held from 5:00-7:00 P.M. Wednesday evening at the funeral home.
