Nancy Jane Kaercher Smith, 93 of Lake City, passed away on Monday, February 7, 2022 at the Solaris HealthCare of Lake City.  She was born in Allentown, Pennsylvania to the late Daniel Kaercher and Effie May Derr Kaercher.  Mrs. Smith had made her home in Lake City for the past 13 years having moved here from Warner Robbins, Georgia.  She retired from the Houston County Correctional Institute in Perry, Georgia with many years of service.  Mrs. Smith enjoyed crocheting, needle point and spending time with her family.  She was preceded in death by her parents; one daughter, Marla Blake; and her sister, Frances Moomy.

Survivors include her daughter, Julie S. Wilkins, Lake City; three grandchildren, Daniel Wilkins and Travis Wilkins both of Union City, Indiana and Brittany Blake, Brooklyn, New York; and one great granddaughter, Olivia Wilkins, Union City, Indiana.

A memorial service honoring the life of Mrs. Smith will be held at a later date.
