Mr. Morris McQueen Saunders, 89 of Lake City, passed away on Thursday, January 19, 2017 at the Solaris Healthcare in Lake City.  He was born in Penny Farms, Florida on April 14, 1927 to the late Charles L. and Edna H. Saunders.  Mr. Saunders was raised in the Penny Farms area and moved his family to Lake City in 1953.  He was of the Baptist faith and member and Deacon Emeritus at Eastside Baptist Church.  Mr. Saunders retired in 1989 from the Saunders Timber Company.  He was preceded in death by two brothers, Franklin Saunders and Carl Saunders and one grandson, Brad Hunter.

Survivors include his wife of 65 years, Mrs. Constance S. Saunders, Lake City; his children, Charles Saunders (Barbara) and Randy Saunders (Debbie) both of Lake City, Barbara Driggers (Mike), Jasper and Brenda Hunter (George), Lake City; one brother, Doyle Saunders (Mildred), Penny Farms, FL; one sister, Nan Brock, Tallahassee; one sister-in-law, Patty Saunders, Middleburg; eight grandchildren, Brian Saunders (Wendy), Lake City, Bill Saunders (Jenna), Dallas, TX, Travis Saunders (Laura), Lake City, Scott Driggers (Julie), Darien, IL, Daniel Carver (Cathy), Live Oak, FL, Laura Maxwell (Byron), Lithia, FL, Ashley Summers (Greg), Lake City and Mallory Pruitt (Greg), Orlando, FL; 16 great grandchildren also survive.

Funeral services will be conducted on Monday, January 23, 2017 at 11:00 AM at Eastside Baptist Church with Rev. Hugh Dampier and Rev. Brandon Witt officiating.  Interment will follow at Forest Lawn Memorial Gardens Cemetery.  Visitation with the family will be Monday from 10-11:00 AM, one hour prior to the service at the church.  In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Eastside Baptist Church or the charity of your choice.
