Mona Lee Coates, 92, of Lake City, passed away on Tuesday morning, February 14, 2023 at the Bedrock Nursing and Rehabilitation Center in Lake City after an extended illness. She was born in Olustee, Florida on August 25, 1930 to the late Clark Lawrence and Fannie Lawrence. She was a member of the Lake City Church of Christ and was a Hairdresser for a little over 20 years and worked as a waitress. In her spare time, she enjoyed vacationing, especially trips she took to Hawaii and also going to the gulf to fish. She also enjoyed cooking for her family. She is preceded in death by her husband of over 60 years, George M. Coates, son, David A. Coates, and her sister, Dot Perryman.

She is survived by her daughter, Nancy C. Coates of Lake City. Three grandchildren, George Barker, Chris Barker and Donald Griffin (Kristen) and six great-grandchildren also survive.

A funeral service for Mrs. Coates will be conducted on Tuesday, February 21, 2023 at 11:00 A.M. in the Lake City Church of Christ with Pastor T.J. Gifford, officiating. Interment will follow in Memorial Cemetery. The family will receive friends for a time of visitation on Monday evening, February 20, 2023, from 5:00-7:00 P.M. at the funeral home.
