Mildred “Bonnie” Gay Newhouse, 83, of Lake City, passed away on Saturday, October 24, 2026 at the HCA Florida- North Florida Hospital in Gainesville after a brief illness. She was born in LuLu, Florida on July 30, 1943 to the late Claude Gay and Florence Bailey Gay. She has made Lake City her home since 1989, moving back here from Alabama. She worked for a number of years as a Clerk in the Insurance Industry. In her spare time, she enjoyed reading, she loved mysteries, gardening, and canning & preserving. She is preceded in death by her husband, Frederick J. “Jim” Newhouse; brother, Alvin Gay and her sisters, Sarah Stevens, Carolyn Gay and Louise Cogdill.

She is survived by her son, Kennith Michael "Mike" Early, Sr. of Tallahassee; daughters, Janet N. Moore (Tom) of Gainesville and Sharon E. Robison (Bradley) of Lake City. One brother, Alfred "Al" Gay of Lake City along with six grandchildren and two great-grandchildren also survive.

A graveside service for Bonnie will be conducted on Wednesday, October 28, 2026 at 11:00 A.M. in the Old Providence Baptist Church Cemetery. Interment will follow.
