Mrs. Mildred Jenkins Neal, 84, of Lake City, passed away peacefully on Wednesday afternoon, June 13, 2018, at her residence after an extended illness. She was born in O'Brien on April 18, 1934 to the late Claude L. and Lena Grant Jenkins. She has made Lake City her home since 2002, moving here from the O'Brien/Branford area. She was a Library Technical Assistant with the University of Florida, where she retired with over 35 years of service. She was a member of the Eastside Baptist Church here in Lake City and loved to read in her spare time. She was preceded in death by her loving husband in 2005, Harold Neal; and her sister; Lenora McCreary.

She is survived by her children; Tommy and Amy Neal; stepson; David Neal (Vicky); sister; Eva Simpson (Harvey). Grandchildren; Christopher Mathis, Joshua Mathis, Margaret Mathis and Delana Neal along with five great-grandchildren also survive.

Funeral services for Mrs. Neal will be conducted on Monday, June 18, 2018 at 11:00 A.M. in the Chapel of Gateway-Forest Lawn Funeral Home with Pastor Mark Cunningham officiating. Interment will follow in the Hopeful Baptist Church Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 10:00-11:00 A.M. (one hour prior to the service) at the funeral home.
