Obituary

Our precious mother Mildred "Micki" Bridges Cobb has finally gone to be with her sweet Lord Jesus.  Her greatest prayer was for all of her Family and Loved ones to seek a closer life with Jesus Christ as she waits to be reunited with in Heaven and live together in eternal peace. At the age of 92, She passed away peacefully in her home surrounded by her children and three generations of family and close friends.

Micki was born June 25th, 1930 to Elijah (Jim) Bridges and Ida Mae Bridges in Raiford, Florida. When she was 7 years old, her mother passed away, and she and her three brothers were then raised by her grandmother, Pearl Dowling Johns.

She is survived by her daughter, Romaine Cobb Thormodson (Craig) of Madelia Mn, and sons William A. "Billy" Cobb and Richard Cobb. Her Grandchildren Gina Watson, Alysa Thormodson, Sarah Bower (Michael), William A. "Will" Cobb (Amanda), Ryan, Zach, McKinleigh, and Brayden Cobb. Great grandchildren Twins Adriana and  Briana Watson, Carson Watson, Erin, Asa, and Roselynne Cobb, Bailey Taylor, and Matthew Bower. She is also survived by special friends Thea Baglino, Ashley Cobb, and Beth Smith.

Micki attended Raiford Elementary School with her brothers. She then attended Union County High School in Lake Butler where she met and married Bill Cobb Jr. In May 1947, Micki and Bill were married and moved to West Palm Beach, FL. Bill served in the U.S. Navy during the Korean War, stationed in French Morocco, where Micki joined him. After military service, they returned to W.P.B., where they raised their three children.

As a young Mother, she was a homemaker dedicated to the care and love of her three children and to building a family on a foundation of love and faith in Jesus Christ.  Her love of children and Christ was always present in her home, and she would often be seen bringing many children to Church to teach them to know and love Jesus.

In later years, Micki re-entered the workforce and enjoyed a successful career in real estate in W.P.B.  After moving to Lake City in 1980, she served in clerical and managerial positions at the local credit bureau and at a franchise corporation.

After retiring in 1990, Micki became a foster Mother for several years, where she made an impact on the lives of many children, opening her home at all hours day or night. Over the years since then, she would regularly hear from these children; one of them is here today, Candy Rowe.

She was a generous, giving, and self-sacrificing soul who opened her home to many and offered comfort and refuge from the difficulties in life.  It was said by her oldest and dearest friends, that Micki was the best friend they ever had in their lives. She was full of life every day, even to her last days.  Her passion and favorite thing in life were her Lord and her large family.

As a long-time member of North Lake City Church of God, where she served the Lord continually, and was always eager to take on new responsibilities.  She was best known as Leader of the Prayer Ministry from 1996 - 2010, Sunday School, VBS, Finance Committee, Youth Board, and many more tasks both large and small.

She is preceded in death by her husband William A. Cobb, foster son Charles Cobb, sister Evelyn Lyles and her brothers J.C., James, Charles, and Hal Bridges.
