Michelle Iva Janson, 78, of Lake City, passed away on Monday morning, September 29, 2025 at the Bedrock Rehabilitation of Lake City, after a brief illness. She was born in Dayton, Ohio on June 3, 1947 to the late Jerome Packnett and Geraldean Weeks Packnett. She has made Lake City her home since 1989, and served her country in the United States Navy, serving in the Naval Hospital. She worked for the Columbia County School District, serving as a 3rd grade teacher at Eastside Elementary School for over 20 years before retiring. In her spare time, she enjoyed traveling, reading, gardening, spending time with her family and Teaching Sunday School Class. She also volunteered with the Pregnancy Care Center here in Lake City as well as tutored many people at the Columbia County Public Library. She is preceded in death by her son, Randall Lee Janson, Jr.; and her sister, Jan Stenson.
She is survived by her loving husband of 45 years, Randy Janson of Lake City; son, Patrick "Pat" Harrelson of Orlando and daughter, Robin Williams (Royce) of Lake City. One granddaughter, Kayla Valdez (Jeffrey) of Tampa along with one great-granddaughter, Anarelly Michelle Valdez of Tampa also survives.
A Celebration of Life service for Mrs. Janson will be conducted on Wednesday, October 8, 2025 at 10:30 A.M. in the Wesley Memorial Methodist Church Worship Center with Pastor Kevin Hall officiating. United States Navy honors will be conducted immediately following the service. The family will receive friends for a time of visitation beginning at 9:30 A.M. at the church, prior to the service.
