Mr. Michael D. "Magic Mike" Cox 65, passed away unexpectedly on Wednesday morning June 14, 2023. Mike is preceded in death by his parents James D. and Kayron Jean Boland Cox. Mike was born in Wayne, Michigan, but has been a native of Columbia County. Mike worked at Purina Mills for twenty-four years and then transferred to Mobile Homes Sales where he was recently named the top five salesman for Live Oak Homes through Ironwood Homes of Lake City, FL. He enjoyed spending time with his family, fishing at Horseshoe Beach. Mike was a Gold Member of the Gator Club and an Avid Florida Gators Fan, during college football season you would find Mike up in his fighting chair coaching them Gators.

Mike is survived by his wife Velina Peeler Cox of forty-six years, Lake City, FL three daughters Amy Carroll (Clint), Jessica Robinson (Josh) and Bethany Gerbec (Matt) all of Lake City, FL one brother Donald "Don" Cox (Michelle) Lake City, FL. Six grandchildren Taylor Carroll, Mason Carroll, Avery Robinson, Brantley Robinson, Weston Gerbec and Kynslee Gerbec all of Lake City, FL. And a host of nieces and nephews who referred to him as "Hotdog".

Funeral services for Mike will be held Saturday, June 17, 2023 at 10:00 A.M. at Gateway-Forest Lawn Funeral Home in Lake City, FL. With Pastor Lonnie Johns Officiating. Visitation with the family will be held Friday night June 16, 2023 from 5:00 P.M. until 7:00 P.M. at the funeral home.
