Merilyn Rae Dance Summers, 74, passed away on Friday, February 26, 2016 at the North Florida Regional Medical Center, in Gainesville, Florida.  Merilyn was born in Covington, Kentucky to the late Ira William "Bill" & Ruth [Phelps] Dance.  Merilyn lived in Dayton, Ohio, in her youth & moved to Liberty, Indiana in October of 1957. She graduated from Union High School (Liberty, Indiana) on May 28, 1959. On August 8, 1959, she married the love of her life, Floyd Summers in the Church of Christ at Liberty, Indiana. In 1962, Merilyn and Floyd moved to Oxford, Ohio, where she worked for the Oxford Hardware Company for five years as a bookkeeper. In 1965, she began working in the Office of Admissions at Miami University (Ohio), and retired on April 30, 1993. In 1999, Merilyn and Floyd moved to Lake City, Florida. She is preceded in death by her parents, brother, Ronnie Dance and her devoted husband of 51 ½ years, Floyd Summers (2011).

Survivors include her brother, Dennis (Judy) Dance of Rockford, IL; nieces, Stacey Lynn Dance, Lisa Summers Cleveland, Kathy Vickers, Nancy Mulhern, Julee Taylor; nephews, Ricky, Joey, Wayne, Steve, Gary, Phillip & Travis Summers and Jeff Taylor; brother in law; Russel (Myrtle) Summers, Homer Summers; sister in law, Opal (Bill) Colter and Jackie (Roger) Mc Crary.

Funeral services will be conducted at 2:00 p.m. , on Thursday, March 3rd, 2016 at the Gateway-Forest Lawn Memorial Chapel. Interment will follow in Forest Lawn Memorial Gardens. Visitation with the family will be held one hour (1:00 p.m. – 2:00 p.m.) prior to services at the funeral home.
