Mr. Melvin Randolph Mikell, 86, of Lake City passed away on Tuesday, February 1, 2022 at the Veterans Affairs Medical Center following a lengthy illness. A native of Olustee, Florida, Mr. Mikell was the son of the late Alton Mikell and Lelian Tyre Mikell and was preceded in death by his brother Lamar Mikell, and sisters, Jean O'Quinn and Mary Lelian Mikell. He retired from the US Army National Guard after 33 years of service, was the owner of Mikell's Power Equipment along with his wife Shirley since 1978, a member of First United Methodist Church, and enjoyed traveling with his family.
Mr. Mikell is survived by his wife of 66 years, Shirley Mikell; daughter Terri (Keith) Carmichael; son Randy Mikell; grandchildren, Mikell (Holly) Carmichael; Crystal (Los) Brown, Kristina (Jared) Murphy; great grandchildren, Caley (Bryce) Massey and Brooke Carmichael, Junior Brown, Carlicia Brown, and Parker Murphy; brothers, Joey Mikell (Elaine), Robin Mikell; stepmother, Kitty Mikell.
A memorial service for Mr. Mikell will be held on Tuesday, February 8, 2022 at 4:00 P.M. in the Gateway-Forest Lawn Memorial Chapel with Rev. Bill Lawhon officiating. The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 3:00-3:45 before the service.
