Melvalee "Yvonne" Petty, 85, of Lake City, passed away on Wednesday, June 4, 2025 at the HCA Florida- Lake City Hospital after a brief illness. She was born in Providence, Florida on September 9, 1939 to the late Warren B. Clyatt and Louise Fralick Clyatt. She was a member of the Baptist Faith, a housewife, and assisted her husband in the family business. In her spare time, she enjoyed sewing, crocheting, crossword puzzles and making her carrot cakes. She was preceded in death by her son, Donald Ray Petty; six brothers and four sisters.
She is survived by her loving husband of 67 years, Zimmie C. Petty, Sr. of Lake City; son, Zimmie Carl Petty, Jr of Lake City; daughter-in-law, Glenna Petty of High Springs; grandchildren, Christina Joye (Brad) of Lake City, Rachel Petty of High Springs and Emma Petty of High Springs. Two sisters, Mary Lou Daniels (Lewis) and Nancy Chauncey (Stanley) both of Lake City along with many nieces and nephews also survive.
A funeral service for Mrs. Petty will be conducted on Monday, June 9, 2025 at 11:00 A.M. in the Gateway-Forest Lawn Memorial Chapel with Pastor Mike Norman officiating. Interment will follow in the Forest Lawn Memorial Gardens Cemetery. The family will receive friends for a time of visitation beginning at 10:00 A.M. prior to the service at the funeral home.
