Mary R. Walker, 80, passed away on Saturday, July 20, 2013 at the Suwannee Valley Care Center (Haven Hospice). She was the daughter of the late John and Elsie "Tyre" Dortch and a lifelong resident of Lake City. She was a loving mother, grand and great grandmother who devoted her time to her family and her church family at Watertown Congregational Methodist Church. She is preceded in death by her daughter, Carolyn Diane "Kitty" Walker and her beloved husband of 32 years, George "G.W." Walker. .
Survivors include her son, Ronald Wayne Walker of Gainesville, FL; daughter, Sharon Elaine (Dan) McNair of Lake City, FL; brother, Robert (Velma) Dortch of Lake City, FL; 9 grandchildren and 15 great grandchildren.
Funeral services will be conducted at 1:00 p.m. on Wednesday, July 24, 2013 in the chapel of Gateway-Forest Lawn Funeral Home with Pastor Randy Ogburn officiating.
Interment will follow in Fellowship Baptist Church Cemetery. Visitation with the family will be held from 11:00 a.m. until 1:00 p.m., Wednesday prior to service time.
