Mrs. Mary Emma Porter, 72 of Ft. White, FL, passed away on Friday, May 1, 2015 at the Haven Hospice Suwannee Valley Care Center. Mrs. Porter was born in High Springs to the late Franklin Howard and Ora Edgemon Terry. She was raised in Ft. White and a graduate and valedictorian of the Ft. White High School class of 1960. Mrs. Porter traveled and supported her husband during his 21 years of service in the United States Navy. She enjoyed photography and making family albums from the pictures she took. Mrs. Porter was devoted to her family, especially her grandchildren.
Survivors include her husband of 54 years, David "Bobby" Porter, Ft. White; two sons, David Porter, Jr., Macon, GA and Kevin Porter (Diane), TX; one daughter, Sheri Koon (Bill), Ft. White; two sisters, Margaret Martin (Gene), Ft. White and Janice Revels (Kenny), Ft. White; ten grandchildren and five great grandchildren also survive.
Funeral services will be conducted on Saturday, May 9, 2015 at 11:00 AM at the Ft. White Baptist Church with Rev. Milton Smith, Pastor, and Rev. Larry Sweat officiating. Interment will follow at Ft. White Cemetery. Visitation with the family will be from 6-8:00 PM Friday evening at the funeral home. Following the interment, the family will be gathering for a meal at Elim Baptist Church in Ft. White. For those friends and family wishing to bring food, Elim Baptist Church will be open at 10:00 am Saturday to receive food. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to the Ft. White Baptist Church Building Fund.
