Mary Edna Snelgrove Mock, 84 of Fort White, passed away peacefully at her home on Friday, May 8, 2026. She was born in Ellisville, Florida, the middle of seven children, to the late Cary Leo and Edna Kathryn Williams Snelgrove. Mrs. Mock was raised in the Ellisville and Fort White communities. She attended school at Mason City and was a graduate of Fort White High School class of 1960. She earned her nursing degree from Lake City Community College and worked for many years as a traveling nurse, a home health care and hospice nurse, and a General Electric employee in Alachua. Mrs. Mock was a member of the First Baptist Church of High Springs and was an auxiliary member of the Gideons International Lake City Camp.
Mrs. Mock had a unique and strong bond with her siblings and was preceded in death by two brothers, Jack Snelgrove and Alton Snelgrove, and one sister Lola Tyre. She enjoyed traveling the world, but above all she loved to have her family together at her home to visit and share a meal. Mrs. Mock was also preceded in death by her parents, her late husband of 60 years Melvin Mock, and one grandson Stephen LaCorte.
Survivors include her three children Ernie Mock (Mary “Sissy”) and Drew Mock (Sharon) of Fort White and Kathi LaCorte (James) of Spring Hill, FL; one brother Jimmy Snelgrove (Pat) of West Palm Beach; two sisters Eva Timmons of Gainesville and Ann Roach (John) of Sierra Vista, AZ; seven grandchildren, Jennifer Forsgren (L.J.) of Lake Butler, Kelli Davis of Lake City, Chelsea Dochterman (Joey) of Branford, Heather Jewell (Bruce) of Lake City, Erin Boyd (Shaun) of Fort White, Caitlyn Doctor of Raleigh, NC and Chloe LaCorte of Fort White; great-grandchildren, Lucas and Liam Forsgren, Malachi Davis, Zaylenna and Zevalin Dochterman, Lizzy Jewell, and Nate, Evie and Charlotte Boyd; and numerous nieces and nephews also survive.
A memorial service will be held on Friday, May 15, 2026 at 11:00 AM at the First Baptist Church of High Springs with Pastor Greg Waltermire officiating. A time of visitation with the family will be one hour prior to the service at the church from 10:00 AM to 11:00 AM. Mrs. Mock will be interred with her late husband at the Jacksonville National Cemetery at a later date. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions can be made to Haven Hospice or to Gideons International.
