Mary “Ginny” Russell McQueen, 84, of Lake City, Florida, passed away on August 16, 2026. Ginny had called Lake City home for the past 30 years, after spending much of her life living in various places across the United States with her husband, James D. McQueen Sr., during his Air Force career. They were married for 60 years before his passing. Ginny was a devoted wife, mother, homemaker, and grandmother who took great pride in caring for her family. She especially loved being a grandmother, going to yard sales, and baking. Her chocolate chip cookies were a particular favorite of everyone who had the privilege of enjoying them. Fiercely independent and, as her family would readily admit, stubborn, Ginny was also funny, generous, and full of personality. She will be remembered for her love of family, her sense of humor, and all the little things that made her uniquely Ginny.
She is survived by her children, James D. McQueen Jr. and his wife, Amanda; Ronald R. McQueen; and Angela Darby and her husband, Tim; her grandchildren, Stephen McQueen; Genevieve Bowman and her husband, Andrew; Sarah Curwen and husband, Branden her step-grandchildren, Angela O'Pry and Sean Thompson; and many great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband of 60 years, James D. McQueen Sr.
A Celebration of Life will be announced at a later date. Cremation arrangements are under the direction and care of GATEWAY-FOREST LAWN FUNERAL HOME, 3596 S. US HWY 441, Lake City, FL, 32025, 386-752-1954. Please leave words of comfort for the family at www.gatewayforestlawn.com.
