Mary Esther Locklear Felton, 83 of Lake City, passed away Thursday, December 30, 2021 at the Lake City Medical Center.  She was born in Fort White, Florida, the oldest daughter and fifth child to the late John and Mary Elizabeth Hudson Martin.  Mrs. Felton was a graduate of Fort White High School class of 1956 and was a longtime resident of Lakeland, Florida before returning to Lake City in 1996.  She was a Christian by faith and was a strong advocate for anyone in need.  Mrs. Felton worked for Publix Supermarkets in Lakeland, the Polk County School System and she enjoyed real estate and property investing.  She was preceded in death by her parents; her first husband, Jimmy Crondal Locklear; and five siblings, Willie Martin, Riley Martin, Robert Martin, Thurman Martin and Lottie Martin Dicks.

Survivors include her husband, Jerry Felton, Lake City; her children, Karen Sue Bryan (Doug), Bethlehem, GA, Darrell Martin Locklear (Kristy) and Robert Keith Locklear (Lindsey) all of St. Augustine, Mike Felton (Debbie), Palatka and Darby Howard (Levy), Gainesville; one brother, Earl Martin (Mattie), Fort White; two sisters, Marie Fountain (Fritz) and Dottie Shaw (Ray) all of Lake City; ten grandchildren and two great grandchildren also survive.

Graveside funeral services will be conducted on Monday, January 3, 2022 at 11:00 AM at the Fort White Cemetery with Mr. David Martin officiating.  Interment will follow.  The family will gather at the cemetery for a time to visit starting at 10:30, prior to the service.
