Mrs. Mary Nell Davis, 89, passed away on Saturday, January 31, 2015 at the Suwannee Valley Care Center (Haven Hospice), after an extended illness. She was born in Dahlonga, Georgia to the late Gordon and Nellie [Smith] Dowdy and had lived in Lake City since moving here from Michigan in 1981. She was a loving, selfless lady who devoted her life to the care of her family. She is preceded in death by her parents, her brothers, Gordon S. Dowdy and Norman L. Dowdy; sisters, Burnys Dowdy, Hazel Smith, and Callie Mae Ash.
Survivors include her caring husband of 48 years, James E. Davis of Lake City, FL; and her sister, Bess (Lewis) Pruitt of Lake City.
Funeral services will be conducted at 2:30 p.m. on Tuesday, February 3, 2015 in the Gateway-Forest Lawn Memorial Chapel with Dr. Jody Davis officiating. Interment will follow in Forest Lawn Memorial Gardens. Visitation with the family will be held one hour prior to service time (1:30 p.m. – 2:30 p.m.) at the funeral home.
