Mary "Ruth" Campbell, affectionately known as "Nanny Ruth", 87 of Lake City, passed away on Monday, December 20, 2021, at the Haven Suwannee Valley Hospice Care Center in Lake City with her family by her side. She was born in Southern Pines, North Carolina to the late Arthur and Pearl Ring Reynolds. Mrs. Campbell had made her home in Lake City since 1971 having moved here from Jacksonville, Florida and she had previously been a longtime resident of Carthage, North Carolina. Mrs. Campbell, along with her deceased husband, John B. Campbell, assisted Bro. C. Parker Thomas and Sister Kathleen Thomas in the founding of Ramona Park Church in Lake City in the fall of 1972.
Mrs. Campbell was first and foremost a prayer warrior and she loved singing songs of her Savior not only in church but in her home as well. She had a servant's heart and her home was always open for everyone no matter the time or day. Mrs. Campbell was known for her chocolate pies, caramel cakes and chicken and dumplings. Through the years she mentored many and hosted tea parties, cooking and sewing classes in her home for the young women. She enjoyed sewing, quilting, gardening and spending time with her family and church family. Mrs. Campbell was preceded in death by her parents, her late husband of 36 years, John B. Campbell; one brother, Junior Reynolds; and one sister, Eunice Reynolds Campbell.
Survivors include her son, Paul Campbell (Debbie), Lake City; one brother, Elmer Reynolds (Mary Jo), Richmond, VA; two grandchildren and their families, Josh Campbell (Priscilla) and their children, Bailey, Natalie and Jake, Mandy Campbell Brady (Michael) and their children, Nathan, Morgan and Allie; and numerous nieces, nephews, extended family who knew her as their "Nanny Ruth".
Funeral services for Mrs. Campbell will be conducted on Thursday, December 30, 2021 at 11:00 AM at Ramona Park Church, 8170 S US Hwy 441, Lake City, FL 32025, with Elder Carl Johnson officiating. Interment will follow at Forest Lawn Memorial Gardens Cemetery. Visitation with the family will be one hour prior to the service at the church on Thursday starting at 10:00 AM till 11:00 AM.
