Mary Williams Brown, 87 of Lake City, passed away unexpectantly on Wednesday, November 29, 2023 at the South Georgia Medical Center in Valdosta, Georgia. Mrs. Brown was born in Gainesville, Florida, the fourth child of 5, to the late Jessie Williams and Beatrice Haney Williams. She had made Lake City her home for the past 53 years having moved here from Jacksonville. Mrs. Brown was of the Baptist faith, she never met a stranger and loved traveling and shopping with her girls. She was a homemaker and her strong will helped her to raise her 10 children and also survive many health issues, including breast cancer. Mrs. Brown loved spending time with her famiy and adored her pets, "Roxie" and "Snookems". She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband of 63 years, Epstine "Buddy" Brown; four children, Guy, Randy, William and Baby girl Brown; and one grandson, Matt Brown.
Survivors include sons, David Brown (Renee), Lake City and Steve Brown (Daun), Middleburg; daughters, Mary Jane Altman (Paul), Middleburg, Linda Davis (James), Lake Butler, Brenda Rodgers (Carl), Statenville and Sherry Burlingame (Wade), Lake City and Mary Margaret Brown, Lake City; one sister, Bernice Seckel (Ernie), Albertville, AL; 30 grandchildren; 57 great-grandchildren; and 29 great-great grandchildren.
Funeral Services for Mrs. Brown will be conducted on Monday, December 4, 2023 at 3:00 PM in the Gateway-Forest Lawn Memorial Chapel. Interment will follow at Forest Lawn Memorial Gardens Cemetery. A time of visitation with the family will be Sunday afternoon, December 3, 2023, from 4:00 PM to 6:00 PM at the funeral home.
