IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Martha Sue
(Sweatt) Shearer
January 26, 1934 – November 29, 2022
Martha (Marti) Shearer, 88, of Lake City, FL and previously Valparaiso/Niceville, FL for 50 years, began her eternity with Jesus peacefully on Tuesday evening surrounded by her loving family. Her greatest love in life, other than her Savior, was her husband, Joe. December 2 would have been their 71st wedding anniversary. Marti was born in a private home in lower Alabama. She grew up as on only child in Panama City, FL with her parents. Joe always reports that the Air Force was the catalyst to moving him from Washington state to Panama City where he met his bride. Being an Air Force family for 27+ years, Joe and Marti were privileged to live overseas, travel to many countries, and visit all 50 states while serving our country. They were blessed with a daughter and then a son. At age 4, they sadly lost their son to a brain tumor. Both being only children, Joe and Marti did not want their daughter to grow up without siblings. God gave them another daughter a couple of years later. They thank the Lord that God lessened their loss with another child. Music was Marti's passion and heart which she shared with her daughters. They were able to sing together on many occasions. Marti, also, was a fabulous cook. She loved to make everything from scratch and had always almost every ingredient in her home to make whatever she was craving. She loved playing games with anyone at any time! She would drop everything to play. She was always dressed to the nines and people admired her fashion sense.
Marti is survived by her loving husband, Joe Shearer; daughters, Debbie (Bryant) Wagoner and Terri (David) Barber; 7 grandchildren, 12 great grandchildren, and 5 great-great grandchildren.
