On September 22nd, Marlene Rosenthal Hirsh (1932-2023) slipped peacefully from this life into the presence of Jesus whom she loved and longed to see face to face.  She is preceded in death by her parents Abe and Faye Rosenthal, brothers Murray and Jerry Rosenthal, her great-grandson Josiah Seth Hirsh, and her husband Herbert L. Hirsh (1926-2000).

She was born in Brooklyn, New York and later moved to Miami, Florida where she met the love of her life, husband Herbert Hirsh, and where they raised five wonderful children. She moved to Lake City, Florida in 1979.

She is survived by sister-in-law Enid Rosenthal of Aventura, Florida, and her children Michael Hirsh (Jo Lynn), Woodstock, Georgia; Daniel Hirsh, Panama City, Florida; Laura Pemberton, Charlotte, North Carolina; Julie Bloom (Lyle), Huntsville, Alabama, and Janet Thomsen, Charlotte, North Carolina.  In addition, she is the proud grandmother of twenty-nine and great-grandmother of thirty-eight.

She was a never-ending source of encouragement, love, and laughter literally until her last breath, thanking and praying for a caretaker who was brushing her hair and joking with her attending nurse.  On the day before she left this mortal coil, she hilariously mugged for the camera in what would be the last pictures taken of her.

Her constant desire was that all her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren come to a deep personal faith in her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ.  Shortly before she passed, she said to her gathered family, "Don't shed any tears for me.  I know where I'm going, and I want to see each of you there so we can be together forever."

While her family deeply misses her, we don't say goodbye; only "until we meet again."

Visitation will begin at 1:00 p.m. on Friday, September 29th.  The funeral service will begin at 2:00 p.m.  At Gateway -Forest Lawn Funeral Home Memorial Chapel with Michael Hirsh will be officiating.
