Marilyn B. Mitchell, 93, of Lake City, passed away peacefully on Saturday, August 7, 2021 at the Solaris Healthcare in Lake City after an extended illness. She was born in Danville, IL on April 9, 1928 to the late Sylvester and Shirley Davies Miller. She was a member of the Vermilion Heights United Methodist Church in Danville, IL and worked as a Secretary all of her adult life, retiring from General Motors. She has made Lake City her home since the mid-1990s and in her spare time, she enjoyed swimming, going to the beach and her beach home; being busy with her children and her grandchildren, and wasn't scared to "lay the law down" if she needed to. She is preceded in death by her husband of 57 years, Robert Mitchell, Sr., three brothers and one sister.

She is survived by her sons, Robert Mitchell, Jr. (Robin) of Lake City, Randall Mitchell of Lake City, Brian Mitchell (Cheryl) of Springfield, IL and Brad Mitchell (Debbie) of Chicago, IL; daughter, Rhonda Robertson (Vern) of Rapid City, South Dakota. Eleven Grandchildren and fourteen great-grandchildren also survive.

A funeral service for Mrs. Mitchell will be conducted on Thursday, August 12, 2021 at 11:00 A.M. in the Gateway-Forest Lawn Memorial Chapel. The family will receive friends beginning at 10:00 A.M. prior to the service. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations please be considered to the Shriner's Hospital.
