IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Margie Brooks
Lick
June 8, 1949 – September 14, 2024
Margie Brooks Lick, aged 75, passed away peacefully on September 14, 2024, in Lake City, FL at Haven Suwannee Valley Hospice Care Center.
Margie's passion for life was evident in her devotion to her family, her church, and her many interests. A gifted writer, her handwritten letters and notes were cherished by those fortunate enough to receive them. Her love for gardening was unparalleled, with her floral arrangements gracing the First Baptist Church of Lake City, where she also took joy in teaching Sunday school. Margie's fervor extended to college football, particularly her beloved Georgia Bulldogs. So devout to her Dawgs, she finished the Georgia-Kentucky game before leaving us.
Margie studied journalism at Lipscomb University, which fueled her lifelong love for writing and opened doors in the financing industry. Her career, however, was most distinguished by the cherished roles of wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother.
She is survived by her loving husband, Rodney Lick; daughter, Margaret Maranto (Kip); stepsons, Ryan Lick (Jessica) and Jason Lick (Stacy); granddaughters, Hannah Prueter (David) and Emma TeVault; and great-granddaughter, Elsie Prueter. She also leaves behind her step-grands, Eliina, Evan, and Eva Lick; Blake Layton and Kurt Taylor; lifelong friend, Marla Cole; and countless other friends and family.
Margie was preceded in death by her parents, Monte Lanois Brooks, and Elsie Margaret Furches, and her sister, Elizabeth Myers Brooks.
A service to celebrate Margie's life will be held on Saturday, October 5, 2024, 11:00 a.m. at the First Baptist Church of Lake City. The family kindly requests that in lieu of flowers, donations be made to the Alzheimer's Association, so that one day we may find a cure. Donations can be made at https://act.alz.org.
Margie's legacy will continue to bloom in the lives of those she touched, much like the flowers she so lovingly tended. Her memory will be cherished and kept alive in the stories shared, the letters treasured, and the beauty she brought into the world.
