Obituary

Mr. Luther Jackson Huggins, 79 of Lake City, passed away on Thursday, August 20, 2015 at the Haven Hospice Suwannee Valley Care Center in Lake City.  He was a son to the late Leslie Lowell Huggins and Nellie Mae Williams Huggins and had lived most of his life in Lake City and attended Columbia High School.  Mr. Huggins was a veteran of the United States Navy and retired from Homes of Merit as a sales manager.  He enjoyed mowing and caring for his yard, spending time with his grandchildren and with his Beef O'Brady's family.  Mr. Huggins was a Christian and member of Christ Central Ministries.  He was preceded in death in 2012 by his wife of 57 years, Glenda Claire Christie Huggins.

Survivors include his two sons, Michael D. Huggins (Georgelle), Lake City and Joseph "Jody" Huggins (Rhonda), Charlotte, NC; his "adopted in love son", Bill Reed; two daughters, Christie Lynn Hogan (Jeffrey) and Casey Roberts (Aaron) both of Lake City; two sisters, Lillian Huggins and Eunice Spencer; and his caregiver, Gail Burress, Lake City.  Eight grandchildren and nine great grandchildren also survive.

Funeral services for Mr. Huggins will be conducted on Sunday, August 23, 2015 at 4:00 pm at Christ Central Ministries with Pastor Dustin Busscher officiating.  Interment will follow at Forest Lawn Memorial Gardens Cemetery.  Visitation with the family will be one hour prior to the service at the church from 3-4:00 pm.  In lieu of flowers donations may be made to Haven Hospice Suwannee Valley Care Center at 6037 W US Hwy 90, Lake City, FL 32055, in memory of Mr. Huggins.
