Lake City Reporter Obituary Notice

Lucille "Mutt" Porter Roberts.  Mrs. Roberts passed away on Friday, November 4, 2016, at her home in Fort White with family and beloved Tom the cat at her bedside.  Born January 17, 1925 in Columbia County, Florida to the late Ruby Harvey and Lon Porter.  Mrs. Roberts is the last of 9 children to follow.  She graduated in 1943 from Columbia High School in Lake City.  Mrs. Roberts began working for Southern Bell in Jacksonville and relocated to Orlando after her marriage.  She retired in 1983 from Southern Bell after 35 years of service.  She remained in Orlando following the death of her husband and then relocated to Fort White in 2009.  An extremely strong woman with a tender heart, she rarely expressed her struggle as she persevered through adversity.

Departed to resume her place with her loving husband Curtis Roberts, gone ahead on September 12, 2005, to a new heavenly home where on August 19th they will celebrate 62 years.  Also in attendance will be brother, J.B., John L., Leverne, Roy, Eathan and an infant brother; sisters, Sara Lee Porter, Luease Porter Carver and an infant sister Myrtle Rae.

Left here to grieve her passing are her nieces and nephews.  Thank you to Beverly, caregiver/companion, Nancy and Treneshia from Haven Hospice and many others who provided excellent care since her 2012 stroke.

Graveside funeral services will be conducted on Friday, November 11, 2016 at 11:00 AM at Woodlawn Memorial Park Cemetery in Orlando.  Visitation with the family will be Monday, November 7, 2016 from 5-7:00 PM at Gateway-Forest Lawn Funeral Home .  In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Building Fund at Elim Baptist Church, PO Box 448, Ft. White, FL, 32038 or to Haven Hospice of Lake City.
