Lucille Vining Coats-Copeland, 89, of Lake City, passed away peacefully on Monday afternoon, July 15, 2024 at the Haven Hospice – Suwannee Valley Care Center in Lake City, after a brief illness. She was born in Lake City on December 21, 1934 to the late Kie and Maggie Vining. She worked for a little over 20 years with JCPenney's as a Sales Associate and then after retiring, became a homemaker. In her spare time, she enjoyed camping, traveling with her daughter to Biloxi and Tampa, riding her golf cart in the fields, rocking on the porch in her rocking chair, watching the birds and spending time with her family and friends. She is preceded in death by her husbands, Alvin Arnold Coats, Sr. and Ralph Copeland; her son, Alvin Arnold "AL" Coats, Jr.; and her siblings, Ernest Vining, Kie "Junior" Vining and Ruby Colson.

She is survived by her daughter, Sharon Coats of Lake City; her brothers, James Vining (Jean) and Frank Vining. Grandchildren, Casey Bowers (Tom) and Brooke Coats Nettles (McKenna); and her great-grandchildren, Thomas Bowers, Will Bowers and Nevaeh Coats; along with Ralph Copeland's family, and many nieces, nephews and extended family also survive.

A graveside funeral service for Mrs. Coats-Copeland will be conducted on Friday, July 19, 2024 at 11:00 A.M. in the Forest Lawn Memorial Gardens Cemetery with Pastor Johnny Kie Vining, officiating. Interment will follow in the Forest Lawn Memorial Gardens Cemetery. The family will receive friends for a time of visitation beginning at 10:00 A.M. prior to the service at the funeral home.
