Louise Elizabeth Markham Witt, 88, of Lake City, passed away peacefully on Wednesday evening, February 5, 2025 at the Haven Hospice – Suwannee Valley Care Center in Lake City after a brief illness. She was born in Lake City on September 8, 1936 to the late Ralph L. Markham and Myrtice Annie Lee Dortch Markham. She has lived all of her life here in Lake City and was a loving mother and homemaker. In her spare time, she enjoyed being with her children and grandchildren, enjoyed traveling, and working with her husband with their farming operations. She is preceded in death by her loving husband of over 65 years, Kenneth Witt; her daughter, Martha Kay Norris; and her siblings, Aaron "A.B.", Roy D., Hubert L., Joe, Jim, Sonny Markham & Dot Markham.

She is survived by her sons, Larry Witt (Claudia) & Gary Witt (Tracy) both of Lake City; and her daughter, Valerie Ryals (Rocky) of Lake City; son-in-law, Wayne Norris of Lake City; grandchildren, Travis Ryals, Ashley Blanton, Jeffrey Norris, Leslie McGriff, Hailey Douglas, Shelby Witt, Kloe Witt, Regina Witt Sheffield and Dylan Witt; and her great-grandchildren, Ryals Blanton, Leah McGriff, Luke McGriff, Hunter Douglas, Jake Douglas, Addy Baxter, Carter Stinson, Carson Stinson, Mckinney Blanton, Jackson Witt-Harmon, Brody Sheffield, Tinley Witt, Rayleigh Witt, Ryder Norris and Skyla Norris.

A funeral service for Mrs. Witt will be conducted on Thursday, February 13, 2025 at 11:00 A.M. in the Hopeful Baptist Church. Interment will follow in the Hopeful Baptist Church Cemetery. The family will receive friends for a time of visitation on Wednesday, February 12, 2025 from 5:00-7:00 P.M. at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations please be considered to the Hopeful Baptist Church Cemetery Fund.
