Lorene Sapp Douberley, 92, of Wellborn, FL, went home to be with her Lord on 03/05/2025.  She was born March 19th, 1932, the daughter of Dan Sapp and Aline Sapp. Mrs. Douberley left school to take care of family and although she never had the option of formal education, she encouraged her children to pursue excellence whether through education or career. She learned her lessons in the school of life and had a strong work and moral ethic and instilled that in all of her children. Lorene had a way of gathering people to her and a way of seeing their perfection in the midst of their seeming imperfections. She had a big heart, a loving heart, a sometimes boundaryless heart, and was loved by all! As an active member of the First Methodist Church of Lake City, she loved participating not only in the worship services but the other ministries of her "church family" as well. She had a deep and abiding faith that was evident in everything she did. Lorene was preceded in death by her husband, Lamar Douberley (1994) her son Michael Short (2002), and the final "love of her life" for the last 27 years, Dr. Glenn Wilhite (2025).

Mrs. Douberley leaves a strong legacy in her 7 children, 2 stepchildren, 12 grandchildren, and 9 (soon to be 10) great grandchildren. Mrs. Douberley was devoted to her family, her church, and her friendships (of which she had many).

Celebration of Life services will be held at 11:00 A.M. Saturday, March 8, 2025, at First Methodist Church in Lake City with Reverend Aaron Ankeny officiating followed by a reception in the church fellowship hall. Visitation with the family will be held from 10:00-11:00 A.M. Saturday (1 hour before service) at the church. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the First Methodist Church, 973 S Marion Ave, Lake City, FL 32025.
