Loraine Irene Dorin McCleskey passed away peacefully in Lake City, FL, on November 2nd, 2025, at the age of 96.

She was born June 9th, 1929, in Oakfield, NY, to Clifford and Genevieve (Tooley) Dorin. She was valedictorian of her class at Oakfield High School and later moved to Washington, DC - a brave move for a young woman from a small town in the late 1940's. There she worked for the Food and Drug Administration, and met a young Army corporal, Gene McCleskey, at a church square dance. They married in 1954, and were married for 71 years until his passing on August 14. Life took them to several homes across the country, raising four children. After seeing her children through college, she achieved her lifelong ambition and enrolled in college herself, graduating at the age of 72 from Florida Atlantic University with a bachelor's degree in English Literature.

Loraine is survived by her daughter Laurie (Geoff) Casner and sons Carey (Kerry) McCleskey, Ted (Kim) McCleskey, and Scott (Ester) McCleskey, as well as eight grandchildren and her brother Wayne Dorin.

Visitation will take place at Leasburg United Methodist Church in Leasburg, NC on November 15 from 10:00 to 10:45, followed by a memorial service at 11:00. Following the service, she and Gene will be be interred together. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests donations be made to Leasburg United Methodist Church (https://leasburgumc.weebly.com/).
