Loney C. Durrance, Jr., 89 of Live Oak, passed away on Sunday, October 19, 2025 at the HCA Florida Lake City Hospital. He was born and raised in Valrico, Florida to the late Loney C. Durrance, Sr. and Helen Virginia Medlin Durrance. Mr. Durrance was a graduate of Brandon High School class of 1955 and then served our country in the United States Navy. Mr. Durrance had made his home in Live Oak since 2001 and was a longtime resident of the Valrico and Brandon area. He worked for many years with Sterns Peat Company in both Valrico and Dade City. Mr. Durrance loved singing, playing the harmonica, being active in his church, Lake City Seventh Day Adventist Church, and above all, he loved his God. He was preceded in death by his parents; his sister, Gloria Rubio; and his daughter, Laura Oost in 2019.
Survivors include his wife, Velma Kirby Durrance, Live Oak; his son, Lonny Durrance (Tonya Reeve), Live Oak; three grandchildren, Amber Lynn Vaughan, Austin, TX, Dustin Durrance, Kalamazoo, MI and Desiree Pacenza (Jacob), Orlando; and one nephew, Eric Rubio.
A celebration of life service honoring Mr. Durrance will be held at the Lake City Seventh Day Adventist Church of Lake City on Sunday, October 26, 2025 at 1:00 PM with Pastor Brendan White officiating.
