Linda Bryant Pennington, 79, of Lake City, passed away peacefully on Tuesday morning, August 6, 2024 at the Haven Hospice – Suwannee Valley Care Center in Lake City, after a brief illness. She was born on June 24, 1945 to the late Lloyd Bryant and Essie Brown Bryant. She has made Lake City her home most all of her life and worked with the Lake City Police Department for a number of years, retiring as a Records Supervisor. In her spare time, she enjoyed going to the beach, watching cooking shows and spending time with her children & spoiling her grandchildren. She is preceded in death by her loving husband of 51 years, Homer Edgar Pennington and her brother, Charles Bryant.
She is survived by her children, Michael Lee Pennington (J.J.) of Palatka and Amy Pennington Geiger of Lake City; and her sisters, Gail Marsett of Lake City and Barbara Joiner (Richard) of Stone Mountain, GA. Four grandchildren, Kelsey Stormant, Bailee Landry, Cooper Landry (Skylar) and Paislee Pennington; one great grandchild, Tinsley Landry with one great-grandson, Cole Jordan on the way; she is also survived by many extended family and friends, along with her good friend Harold Norris of Lake City.
A funeral service for Mrs. Pennington will be conducted on Friday, August 9, 2024 at 2:00 P.M. in the Gateway-Forest Lawn Memorial Chapel with Dr. Billy Young officiating. Interment will follow in the Hopeful Baptist Church Cemetery. The family will receive friends for a time of visitation on Thursday evening, August 8, 2024 from 5:00-7:00 P.M. at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations please be considered to the Haven Hospice of Lake City, 6037 W. US HWY 90, Lake City, FL, 32055.
