Mr. Leonard F. Masters, 91, of Lake City passed away Sunday, October 08, 2017, at the Veterans Affairs Medical Center following a lengthy illness. Mr. Masters was born in Miami, Florida to the late Fred and Bessie Mae Bare Masters, and had lived in Jacksonville for many years before moving to Lake City in 1963. He was a Veteran of the U.S. Coast Guard serving during World War II, and owned and operated Leonard's Frame Service from 1963-1990, loved freshwater fishing for Largemouth Bass, tending to his cows and garden; and was of the Baptist Faith. Mr. Masters was preceded in death by his wife Rosemary "Gloria" Masters in 2013 and his son Michael Masters in 2012.
Mr. Masters is survived by his sons, Ronnie Masters and Vernon Masters (Cindee); grandchildren, Danyell Dudney (Brian), Lisa Masters, Ronald Masters, II (Brittany), Christopher Leonard Masters (Candace), Victoria Masters, Vernon Masters, Jr. (Amber), Jake Masters (Marisa), and Jessica Graham (Geoff); eleven great grandchildren; brother, Harold Beyer, sister, Katherine Heyder.
Funeral services will be conducted on Wednesday, October 11, 2017 at 11:00 A.M. in the Gateway-Forest Lawn Funeral Home Chapel with Pastor Stephen Fair officiating. Interment will follow at Forest Lawn Memorial Gardens Cemetery. Visitation with the family will be held from 9:30 A.M. to 10:45 A.M . on Wednesday morning at the funeral home . In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Columbia High Bass Masters, 346 NW Lake Valley Terrace, Lake City, FL 32055.
