July 27, 1946 – February 11, 2017
Mr. Lawrence Cason, 70, of Lake City died unexpectedly at his home on Saturday, February 11, 2017. A native of Ft. White, Lawrence was the son of the late Carl Columbus and Wilma Douglas Cason, and had lived in Jacksonville and Guantanamo Bay Cuba for many years while working for the Civil Service of the U.S. Government before retiring in Lake City. He was an avid outdoorsman enjoying fishing and hunting, Florida Gator Fan, and spending time with his family and friends. Lawrence retired from the Civil Service after 25 years and was of the Baptist faith.
Mr. Cason is survived by three sons, Troy Cason (Tiffanie) of Tampa, FL, Sam Cason and Travis Cason (Jennifer) all of Lake City; brother, Wyles Cason (Becki) of Ft. White; sisters, Dorothy Raymos, Zeke Roberts, and Kate Alexander (Bert); grandchildren, Cody and Cole Cason of Tampa, Alexis Cason and Trevin Cason both of Lake City; and many nieces and nephews and close friends.
Funeral services for Mr. Cason will be held at 11:00 A.M. Thursday, February 16, 2017 at the Gateway-Forest Lawn Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Jerry Tyre officiating. Interment will follow at Shiloh Baptist Church Cemetery in Ft. White. Visitation with the family will be held from 5:00-7:00 P.M. Wednesday evening at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the National Rifle Association, 11250 Waples Mill Road, Fairfax, VA 22030 in memory of Lawrence Cason.
