Ms. Laura Gaynell Steele, 88, passed away on Thursday, July 3, 2025, at Bedrock Rehabilitation Center in Lake City, FL., following an extended illness.  She is the daughter of the late Curtis Houston and Hassie Mae Joyner Mink and is preceded in death by her husband, Pastor James Steele. Ms. Laura had made Lake City her home for the past seven years after moving from South Florida. She enjoyed sewing, reading, and spending time with her family.

Ms. Laura is survived by her four daughters, Starletta Crawley (Ted), Lake City, FL; Pamela Sue Clark (Kevin), Jupiter, FL; Carline K. Thomas (Bill), Jefferson, GA; and Dawn Rae Abbott (John), Jacksonville, FL. eleven grandchildren and fourteen great-grandchildren, and one great-great grandchild also survives.
