Mrs. Laura Barnes Owen, 76, of Wellborn, passed away on Tuesday, January 15, 2019 at the North Florida Regional Medical Center after a sudden illness. She was born in Waycross, Georgia on February 20, 1942 to the late T.D. and Grace Smith Barnes. She made Olustee, Florida her home most of her life; just recently moving to the Wellborn area a little over seven years ago. She was a graduate of Union County High School, a member of Tiger Lake Baptist Church in Live Oak and a homemaker all of her life. She enjoyed cooking, sewing, painting and was very crafty.

She is survived by her loving husband of 57 years; Melvin J. Owen of Wellborn; children; Melvin L. "Larry" Owen (Tammy) of Providence and Emily Walker of Sanford. Nine grandchildren and ten great-grandchildren along with extended family members and friends also survive.

Funeral services for Mrs. Owen will be conducted on Saturday, January 19, 2019 at 11:00 A.M. in the Tiger Lake Baptist Church in Live Oak. Interment will follow in the Olustee Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 5:00-7:00 P.M. on Friday, January 18, 2019 at the funeral home.
