Obituary

Laura Elaine McCall, of Wellborn, Florida, passed away in North Florida Regional Hospital in Gainesville, Fl September 18, 2021 due to complications caused by Covid.  Laura was born on April 27, 1959, in Lake City, Florida, to Kenneth Bethea and Dolores Bethea. She has called Wellborn her home for her entire life.

Usually Laura is the one we go to for things like this, especially if it involves writing. She had such a way with words as most of you know, but now the job has been passed to me, Jordan. I've decided not to make this a traditional obituary but instead make it more her style, unique, creative and raw.

Laura fought an amazing fight. She will be greatly missed by her husband, Logan McCall, her daughter, Jordan and granddaughter Paisley. Along with so many others. Some who aren't even blood related but are most definitely among her family. She was a great wife, amazing Mom, best Pita (grandmother) in the world and a one of a kind friend. She was hilarious and witty. She was the most creative person you will ever meet. Constantly working on projects. In fact, even though she's passed, she still has a list of things for Logan to do on the farm.

We are all feeling such a huge loss, but as I explained to Paisley, the reason we are feeling this great of a loss is because of how wonderful our relationship with her was. She has made an impact on so many lives, her absence has left a very large void.

Laura had a massive personality and the gift of gab as most of you know. She could talk to absolutely anyone about anything. She had helped so many people in her life just by writing and talking about her pain and struggles openly. I've had many people message or call to tell me how she helped them through some of the darkest times in their lives just by being her.

Even though so many of us constantly prayed for her healing, we were all met with God's "No". I thought I had learned how to understand and accept God's "No" because it isn't the first time I've heard it. But as I'm having to learn again, I find myself looking for the answers as to why? I've found that in struggles, Family becomes more drawn together. We also grow closer to God. The suffering causes people to look to God and his word for peace. If everything is going well, then the people will live their lives, but they will not seek God.

Laura has such a huge testimony and we need to continue to use it on her behalf. I've also had so many people tell me they haven't prayed in a very long time or even never at all, but have been praying constantly for Mom during this. How amazing is it even in sickness without speaking a word, she brought people closer to God?

She has told me for many years, "don't be sad when I die. Have a celebration and know I'll be in a better place." So that's what we need to do, let's try and find joy in knowing heaven is rejoicing in Mom's homecoming and we will one day see her again.

As we come together to celebrate her life, please dress comfortably and casually.
