In Loving Memory of Larry Kenneth Todd

Larry Kenneth Todd, age 80, of Lake City, Florida, passed away on October 27, 2026, at Haven Hospice in Lake City, Florida, with his beloved wife, Cris, and dear brother Dennis by his side.

Born on March 24, 1946, in Tyler, Minnesota, Larry lived a life defined by service, faith, family, and adventure. He was a devoted husband, loving father and grandfather, and a big brother whose life was marked by dedication, compassion, and an unwavering commitment to the people he loved. He will be remembered for his kind heart, humor, strength, adventurous spirit, and the lasting impact he made on those fortunate enough to know him.

A Life of Service

Larry proudly dedicated 26 years of his life to the United States Navy, serving during the Vietnam War and building a distinguished career at sea. Much of his service was aboard aircraft carriers, where he played an essential role in keeping the ships operational.

Family remained an important part of his Navy story. Larry and his brothers, Gary and David, requested the opportunity to serve together, and the Navy approved their request, assigning them to the USS Yorktown. While aboard, Gary and David worked in the boiler room, helping produce the steam that powered the ship’s engines, while Larry served in the evaporator gang, responsible for producing fresh water for the crew. Serving alongside his brothers became a unique and meaningful chapter in his family’s history.

As his naval career progressed, Larry was commissioned as an officer and assigned to a cruiser before eventually serving aboard a supply ship as Chief Engineer. During his service, he received a spot promotion to Lieutenant Commander, marking a significant milestone in his 26-year military career.

Following his retirement from the Navy, Larry continued his life of service by pursuing a second career in nursing. He attended school to become a nurse and went on to work at the state hospital before becoming an in-home nurse. In this new chapter of his life, he continued caring for others, serving his community as a mental health nurse. Whether in uniform or caring for those in need, Larry devoted much of his life to serving others.

Family, Faith, and the Great Outdoors

Above all, Larry was a family man. He loved his wife, Cris, fiercely, and their life together was a treasured part of his story. He was a proud father, a loving grandfather, and a devoted brother whose family remained an enduring part of his life and legacy.

His faith was a guiding force throughout his life, providing a foundation for the values he carried and the way he served others. His compassion, generosity, and commitment to those around him reflected the importance he placed on both faith and family.

Larry had an adventurous spirit and a love for the great outdoors. He enjoyed boating, glamping, camping, and biking, and in his younger years, even completed marathons. He was also an enthusiastic NASCAR fan, particularly devoted to Jeff Gordon, and even had one of his golf carts customized to resemble Gordon’s race car.

Larry’s love for family extended beyond words. He took pride in making family gatherings enjoyable and welcoming for everyone, always doing more than his share to ensure others were comfortable and had a good time. His home was always open to family visiting from out of town, and he made sure there was room for everyone.

Whether serving his country, caring for others through his work in nursing, spending time with family, or enjoying the outdoors, Larry lived a life shaped by dedication, faith, and a love for the people and things that mattered most to him.
