Larry Horton, 71, of Lake City, passed away peacefully late Wednesday evening, July 12, 2023 at the Haven Hospice Suwannee Valley Care Center in Lake City after a brief illness. He was born in Lake City on August 21, 1951 to the late Otha W. Horton and Opal Harrel. He was the long-time owner of Horton's Garage, which he took over from his dad, and was working up until his passing. He was an avid Florida Gator Fan; and in his spare time, he enjoyed racing, boating, fishing hunting, working in the yard and his vehicles. He is preceded in death by his sister, Othaleen Horton.

He is survived by his loving wife of 35 years, Karen L. Horton of Lake City; daughters, Angel Freeman (Corey) of Palatka and Shilow Horton of Lake City; step-son, Justin Ritter of Louisville, KY; and step-daughter, Amanda Ritter of Louisville, KY; and his sister, Linda Saylor (Eddie) of Lake City. Seven grandchildren, Brandon Erikson, Jaden Erikson, Emilee Erikson, Lance Freeman Mason Freeman, Kailee Ritter and Jase Ritter; and two great-grandchildren, Oliver Erikson and Serenity Ritter also survive.

A celebration of Larry's life will be conducted on Tuesday, July 18, 2023 at 1:00 P.M. in the Gateway-Forest Lawn Memorial Chapel. Interment will follow in Forest Lawn Memorial Gardens Cemetery. The family will receive friends for a time of visitation on Monday evening, July 17, 2023 from 5:00-7:00 P.M. at the funeral home.
