Larry Edward Highsmith, 71, passed away on Tuesday, November 6, 2012 at the V.A. Medical Center after an extended illness. He was born in Jacksonville, Florida to the late James and Mildred (Wiggins) Highsmith, but lived in Lake City for the past 14 years.
He was a loving husband, father, grand and great grandfather who loved fishing, camping, and spending time with his family. He retired from Bell South and was a member of the CWA. He was a member of Wellborn Baptist Church.
He is preceded in death by his parents, and his grand daughter, Lindsay Beck.
Survivors include his caring and devoted wife of 49 years, Shirley Highsmith of
Lake City, FL; daughters, Teresa (Mike) Cox of Lake City, FL, Lorrie McCullough of Lake City, FL, Debbie (Kevin) Lee of Knoxville, TN; brothers, Barry (Frankie) Highsmith and Mike (Helen) Highsmith both of Myrtle Beach, SC, and David Highsmith of Nebraska; 6 grand children and 3 great grandchildren.
Funeral services will be conducted at 12:00 p.m. on Friday, November 9, 2012 at Wellborn Baptist Church with Pastor Don Minshew officiating. Visitation with the family will be held one hour prior to service time (11:00 a.m.A
