Obituary

Kenneth James Govreau, 81, of Lake City, passed away peacefully on Thursday, January 25, 2018 at the Haven-Suwannee Valley Hospice Care Center after an extended illness. He was born in Lakeland, Florida on October 2, 1936 to the late Charles Govreau and Dorothy Govreau. He worked for PCS Phosphate for many years, was a US Army Veteran, where he received a good conduct medal and was a member of the Mt. Pisgah Baptist in O'Brien, Florida. The family of Kenneth wishes everyone to know that he is absent from the body, but present with the Lord. He was a man who loved God first then family and friends. The way you knew he cared about you was when he teased you. He was a do it yourself kind of guy even before it was popular. He enjoyed meeting people and even the occasional neighborhood dog when he used to walk several miles daily until he was physically unable to do so. He also enjoyed doing work around Mt. Pisgah Baptist Church and dearly loved all of the people in his church family. Towards the end of his life when he could hardly go, he would still get dressed on Sunday morning to attend church and would stand and sing hymns even though his breathing was failing him. Kenneth was human and as humans are, not perfect. However, he professed Jesus Christ as his Savior who he knew was perfect. He knew Jesus paved the way for him to live eternally. This gave him hope until the end. He loved his wife unconditionally and while he was ready to leave this earth, it was his one true regret he had to leave her. He will be missed by those lives he touched.

He is survived by his loving wife; Marilyn "Bonnie" Govreau; daughter; Teresa Rowand; step-daughter; Phyllis McCullough (Scott); granddaughters; Ashley Huff and Taylor Rowand along with extended family members and friends also survive.

Memorial funeral services for Mr. Govreau will be conducted on Saturday, February 3, 2018 at 11 A.M. in the Mt. Pisgah Baptist Church in O'Brien with Rev. Doyle Thomas officiating. Interment will follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends from 10:00-11:00 A.M. (One hour prior to the service) at the church.
