Mr. Kenneth L. Cox, Jr., 76, of Lake City passed from this life on November 2, 2016 at Haven Hospice Suwannee Valley Care Center following a long illness. Ken was born in Lake City on August 2, 1940 to the late Kenneth L. Cox, Sr. and Josephine Goodbread Cox. He graduated from Columbia High School and was a proud member of the Class of '58. In his senior year he was voted "Most Dependable". He played football at CHS, Hines Jr. College, and Ole Miss, an Eagle Scout and was a Veteran of the United States Marine Corps. Ken was a State Farm Agent for 43 years. This was not just a great career, but a way of life for him. His agency earned "Best For Service" two years in a row. Ken worshipped at Hopeful Baptist Church and was an active member of his Sunday School Class, Disciples for Christ, and enjoyed the Men's Friday Morning Prayer Breakfast at Cracker Barrel and was a Gideon. Ken was born in Lake City, loved Lake City, and gave much to the people of Lake City.

Ken is survived by his wife, Marty Cox; his sons, Ken L. Cox, III and Vance E. Cox; step-sons, Jason Criss and Troy Criss; grandchildren, Jacob Cox, Ashley Cox, Corey Criss, Taylor Criss, Brian Criss, and Brandon Criss; sister, Nora McCue and her son, Scott McCue.

Funeral services for Ken will be held at Gateway-Forest Lawn Funeral Home Chapel on Monday, November 7, 2016 at 11:00 AM with Pastor Zeb Cook officiating. Interment will follow at Corinth Cemetery on HWY 441 North. Visitation with the family will be held from 10-11:00 AM, on hour before the funeral service.
