Kattie Pauline Slade, 91, of Lake City, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, June 18, 2025 at the Haven Hospice – Suwannee Valley Care Center in Lake City after an extended illness. She was born in Knoxville, Tennessee on April 22, 1934 to the late Elmer and Anna Burl Dunlap Lewis. She has made Lake City her home since the mid-1990s and was a devoted Pastor's Wife as well as worked in childcare for a number of years. In her spare time, she enjoyed cooking, singing and being in church. She is preceded in death by her loving husband of over 45 years, Rev. Jessie Slade; two brothers, Frank Lewis & Roy Lewis; and her two sisters, Marry Perry & Sue Rhoden.

She is survived by her two sons, Frank Slade (Kathy) and Darrell L. Slade both of Lake City; brother, Wayne Lewis (Lavon) of Knoxville, TN; and her sister, Madeline Humphrey (Bill) of Knoxville, TN. Five grandchildren, ten great-grandchildren and three great-great-grandchildren also survive.

A funeral service for Mrs. Slade will be conducted on Monday, June 23, 2025 at 2:00 P.M. in the Gateway-Forest Lawn Memorial Chapel with Pastor Cagney Tanner & Pastor Barbara Button officiating. Interment will follow in the Forest Lawn Memorial Gardens Cemetery. The family will receive friends for a time of visitation beginning at 1:00 P.M. prior to the service at the funeral home.
